Anniversary Time!

My husband said it and I believe him. That one thought in my mind that I never expected him to say but was exactly what I needed to hear. One Sunday morning reminded me of his desire to keep knowing me.

The day before, I learned to use a weed-eater for the first time. I was tired of my ditches looking like a forest grew overnight around my house! What a fun experience I had. Felt the artist in me coming out. It was my practice for being able to cut my husband’s hair in the drop of a dime one day.

Shhhhh! Don’t tell him.

So the morning that I woke up for church, I went looking for my husband. I looked outside to find him walking around the borders of the yard. I called him to see what he was doing out there.

“I felt led to walk around and pray for the yard. But I also wanted to look at your weed-eating skills! You know, what some people see as intimidating about you, I appreciate it. That is one of the things I love about you. You can do anything! There are only two things that you don’t better than me, and that is preach and play basketball!”

As we go into 10 years of marriage, I have watched how a man has learned to love me for me. I personally went from thinking about what he needed to change to be what I needed him to be to realizing what I needed to change to be the best person for myself and those around me. This has been a beautiful experience that I love getting another day to go a little further in understanding who my husband is.

With two children, five fish, one hamster, and many plants later, we are starting our next adventure of vision casting. My lover, homie, and best friend will be dancing the day and the night away with me just because we can.

Always celebrate the special people in your life by making memories that will live on with you forever. Even before that, do the work that matters most so that all those memories count for something in the end.

Thank you, Jesus for the marriage we get to have to each other and reverence that we choose to give daily before You and our children.

Happy Anniversary, Cking!
