Everyone thinks that their birthday month is the best time of the year. Though I can agree in a sense, I don’t go overboard as much as some of those same people do. Here’s why!
When I think about life, I look at each day as a new moment to get closer to my purpose. “What is your purpose, Jenae?” I am so glad you asked! Honestly, my mission in life is to inspire people to be comfortable being themselves. There are so many individuals who are looking at social media and comparing their lives to others. The issue with that is a person’s natural ability to be creative is stunted and blocked! There is nothing like having an idea, seeing it displayed in a beautiful way….on someone else’s platform before you ever get started good.
I have been there. I have been the one on the other side of the computer or cell phone wondering how in the world is this person branching off into these adventures so successfully. What I have learned is that social media cannot control my growth. There is one thing to research for information to help build on, but it is another thing to scroll aimlessly through someone else’s timeline beating down the heart of the one using their thumb. Put the phone down and pick up your dream!
I was listening to an Instagram live the other day concerning funding one’s vision. These profound, yet practical, tools were given by Lyndosha Jamison, a health law attorney, speaker, and author. She said something that really blew me away. So many times we give up on ideas before we allow people to enjoy them. How many things have we talked ourselves out of? How many times have we looked at products or services similar to what we are wanting to create and just lay that dream aside? Not this year! No ma’am! No sir! Jenae will not do that.
Here is why. This year, I will be turning 33 years old. I know…depending on how you know me, you may be shocked to know how young, or how old I really am. It’s the beauty of my family, I guess. In 2009, my aunt passed away right after she turned 33. She was a singer, a drawer, a musically inclined beauty with a unique personality! I remember looking at her and saying that I would not die with my dream inside of me. For the spiritual side of it, Jesus did His last, greatest work at the age of 33. So, now it Is my turn to give life everything that I have.
So when I say that February is my favorite month, I say it with the intent to live out another year with goals in mind. Nothing I do is without a goal! It may not always be clear and understood by many. But through my persistence and patience, I have found joy knowing that I can accomplish what I have set out to do. My quote was inspired by the thought that Lyndosha provoked, “Stop holding back someone else’s joy because you chose fear over faith! Share your purpose.”
Until next time, #loveworkswhenourwordsdont! 💚
