I Earned It!

I went to watch Creed III with my husband yesterday.  The movie is worth seeing again and again.  I would definitely recommend seeing it in the near future.  Side note: I don’t like to watch boxing.  Too much breaking and damage going on for me.  However, I was eager to see this one after seeing the last two.

The movie really caused me to think about my own life and the enemies of my past.  Understand, I am talking about more than just people.  We can have enemies of the circumstances in which we were raised.  It could be the choices that we chose to make.  But yes, it could have also been the personalities of others that created wedges to destroy good relationships.

After watching the movie, I finally convinced myself to stop holding guilt.  Either I can forever feel guilty about my choices or I can just learn from them.  I can now recognize that we were just kids trying to make mature decisions.  There were things that I didn’t know and there were skills I hadn’t developed yet.

Carrying around guilt really serves us no purpose.  It really holds us back, and it really holds us captive.  It keeps us from reaching our purpose.  We can’t act like it didn’t happen though.  We have to deal with the fact that it did.  I understand now that I’m still fighting because of my past but I’m fighting for the right reasons and with the right weapons.  Nope, there is no need to try to prove myself deserving of where I am.   However, my past was used as a ladder to progress through the next levels.

Hear the message: we were just kids!   Nobody was at fault for how it was or even how it ended.  Nobody is born grown.  We are always developing.  I never said that I deserved to be here.  No matter how much I have tried to talk myself out of it, discipline pushed me even closer to it.   However, in the places where I lacked, I worked hard to hold it.  Guess what?  I earned it–physically and mentally.  And I pray that you earn yours too!
