Waiting On Camelot Forest Road

When you think about waiting at the bus stop, what comes to mind? I can appreciate the excitement of children who have never rode a bus before because in some aspects, these memories bring great joy. The dew on the grass that easily picked up pieces of gravel and dirt, the cool breeze that struck a barely awakened face, and even the trees that acted as an umbrella during rainy mornings all replay in my mind from growing up in Camelot Forest!

Can you remember the sound of the engine?  What about the flashing lights that flickered every time the bus was stopped to pick up or drop off the next person? If you were lucky, you were able to ride the new busses with the white roofs, but what about those who rode the rusty solid yellow buses? Do you remember the smell?  The ripped leather seats? The squeaking brakes?  Some people are not sentimental and fastidious like me, and that is okay.

Adulting is different from just being a child waiting on a school bus.  Before, we waited because we had to. Now, we wait if we want to.  The problem is that we forgot the pleasure that comes with waiting.  The world we live now in gives us access to technology that we can use to make quick decisions before even considering the consequences.  We forget what it was like to pick up pine needles, pull them apart, and then realize that our fingers now smell like then too.

I have realized recently that I am more patient with myself and life when I take a moment and sit outside.  My front porch is my new found relaxing spot.  I listen to the birds, the leaves on the trees, and even the cars passing by.  The smell of hewed wood brings fond memories of working alongside my granddaddy.  In the same sentence of waiting, I question myself about why I keep waiting to call someone to come out and spray the seal of my bay window where Yellowjackets have made their home.  Somethings, you don’t need to wait for.

What are you waiting for? A new car? A new job? A new outfit? A new mate?  The real question is what have you been doing while you have been waiting?  Have you taken steps towards what you are desiring or are you expecting it to just fall in your lap?  Imbecile desires lessen the likelihood of you actually appreciating it and having the skills to upkeep it.

Do yourself a favor by determining if your waiting or the lack thereof is in vain.  I never minded waiting as a child on Camelot Forest Road until the moment the bus was late and the sun began to dry up the dew.  Some things take time, but it doesn’t mean that you have to ideally stand around waiting on life to happen.  Prepare for what you want to happen!  Don’t forget to be eccentric in the process!

Until next time, #loveworkswhenourwordsdont! 💚
